Nothing will change in April, only attitudes Mike I know most of it's just FUD, but I want the kids to see that there are options out there besides M$ and Crapple. Most of them just know the iphone interface and windows. Heck, sit them down in front Windows 8 and half of them will freak out because...

I want to quietly distribute puppy on my network
As you may or may not know, Microsoft is ending support for XP. Many are predicting tons of exploits pouring out of the woodworks on zero hour. I'm the sysadmin for a small school with no budget/time for upgrading our 300+ computers to Win8. We fall in a magical bracket where we don't really qualify...

I've actually booted puppy on it, at this point, it's just a matter of tweaking the settings so I can get the wacom drivers working, which is kind of a pain in the butt. I guess what I'm really wondering is if anyone has gotten the latest versions of Krita and Gimp going for puppy, and if so, which ...

Can Puppy turn my TabletPC into a slim mean drawing machine?
I've got a fujitsu stylistic st5112. This thing is just begging to have a lightweight distro dropped on it. It's wacom penabled, so it will have to have wacom support built in. On top of that, I have 4 essential apps that I need: 1. Gimp + G'mic plugin 2. Krita (2.7) 3. Inkscape 4. A decent modern b...

I got it sorted!
I finally got it working! What I ended up doing is running every single "wacom" package available in the repositories, modifying the xorg.conf file to include the entries for wacom, then I restarted x, ran depmod, and suddenly the options were available in gimp. I had to do some adjusting ...

Wacom support **and** gimp 2.8?
Which puppy do I need to be able to get my Wacom Bamboo (fun) working with full pressure sensitivity and be able to run the latest gimp (2.8)? I've been trying to get everything working in precise, but I can't get the pressure sensitivity going. I did manage to install the sfs which gives me gimp 2....

The disadvantages are 1. Less functionality 2. The time you spend figuring out how to strip it down Given that it's already easy to declutter the menu, and that most people don't really care about 50MB of disk space, I think it's a better use of your time to help me improve Puppeee and Fluppy. I do...

Well, I tried fluppy last night on my emachines netbook (it's a rebranded Acer) and everything worked right off the bat. I added fbreader with little trouble--which has built in screen rotation. I'm thinking I might try to get calibre working on it (I'm not a fan, but some ebook collectors swear by ...

Literate Puppy?
Okay, this is an idea for one of our more talented developers-- I would like to see a puplet that is optimized for ebook reading. I'm thinking it would be a really stripped down puppy like turbopup extreme, probably optimized for netbooks, and the apps would all be ebook related software. You could ...
