rcrsn51 is almost certainly correct (and is a reliable source of advice). Even with the most suitable linux, 48 meg RAM just won't be of any practical use. Plus many other issues. But you haven't given anyone enough information to assist you. Or diagnose your real problem. pls explain why you want t...

GCM - your posts are usually interesting, so I read this one. Browsers are also interesting, being (or becoming) close to the meaning of life (i.e. part of the operating system, as defined). However, your questions are straw-men. They assume problems where none exist; indeed the problems could be op...

Maybe this topic is not so off-topic - with many getting gizmos with Win8 pre-installed, it looks like an increasingly common issue/problem ? And when contributors like TedDog, rcnrsn51 and KP get involved, it certainly makes one's ears prick up? It is a bit cryptic at the moment (does Ted Dog mean ...

browser info
For multi-device syncing, Win and Linux (which is the reality for many), travelling and home/office purposes, Google chrome seems practical solution to many issues, once set up. Thanks to those updating the puppy chrome versions.

LibreOffice better bet?
Unless there is some unusual reason to use OO, would it not be better for most to use LibreOffice? LibreO is easy download sfs and seems very solid on Lu 5.2.8 and Slacko Seems like LibO is here for the long-haul, and as long as sfs gets updated from time to time, should be long-term user in Puppies...

Standards, Rules, Conventions, Regulations and overkill
gcmartin I read your post most carefully, and your pleas. All good stuff, and I do sympathise. But the history of Puppy tells me that Playdayz has got it in few words, viz: There are only two rules: 1. Puppy (at this stage) aims for 128 mb for reasons stated by Playdayz 2. Puppy needs no other rules...

The Form vs Function arguments have been going on since long before Turing was a boy. Bling vs No Bling ditto. The argument will always be with us. The debate will never end, the argument is not resolvable, because there is no argument. Surely, Puppy (and all bits of kit and their OS), are hammers, ...

Using site
Site is based on searching (for alternative software to something you have or you think you want :D ) So a conventional index is not really needed. Just use the Search box. Perhaps a note of caution: this type of site (and similar other listings) may not be so useful with Puppy - because your choice...
