Re: 3.01 live CD won't recognize PCMCIA wireless cards

I'd be fine installing Puppy to the HD if it makes a difference, this laptop is going to be only for internet and talking on IM around my apartment (which is why I HAVE to have wi-fi...) Do you know what typ...

Security issue: typed password appears as clear-text

 When typing password for restarting from a saved and encrypted pup session, the typed password shows up on the screen as as-typed text (instead of stars). Somebody, watching the screen, could easily pick this up.

Installing pup files in Puppy 4 Beta

Has anyone else been able to install .pup files? Because I have the same problem as the other users who posted in this thread before me (after installing the packages that puppy says are necessary, clicking on a .pup file just makes a box pop up with the name of the file, nothing else). I was able ...

Re: Solved wireless network bug reported earlier

@bde: I'm using WPA encrytion and it's a built-in Intel PRO/Wireless 3945A "card" on the motherboard. The Module it uses is ipw3945. Manual setup works every time (but including the oddities already described) - it just doesn't get "remembered" for the next boot so must be repea...

Re: Solved wireless network bug reported earlier

Sorry but this didn't work for me. There seem to be several aspects to this bug, for me at any rate. ...... Steps 3 and 4 are the strange ones, so if that helps anyone trouble-shoot, then great! Nick: What type of wireless card do you have? Also, have you tried or been able to make the wireless con...

Solved wireless network bug reported earlier

Feeling a little bit of self-gloat after finding out solution to the bug I reported earlier: http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=188372#188372 . The problem was that the saved wireless profile was not being reused, and had to setup wireless network from scratch after every reboot. The b...

Fonts in webpages are too small to read

Tried this and found hat the fonts are too small to read. What's the trick for normal size, readable fonts in the browser?

Also, had to add /usr/lib/firefox in /etc/ld.so.conf file and had to run ldconfig to resolve the missing library errors.

Thanks.
