Google Chrome is updated with some frequency within a version, for instance, from 20.0.1132.43 to 20.0.1132.57. If you like to have the latest, you can just download it from Google Chrome, unpack it, and then replace the old /opt/google/chrome folder with the new one.
Download 32-bit deb from here -> https://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/browser/
Then right-click the deb file and Open Archive - Extract. Then replace the old /opt/google/chrome with the new one. |
Well for whatever unknown reason, this latest version of Chrome is working on the Athlon XP box again.

Good that openGL works.
Reported frames looks about normal for those drivers, but really unable to judge without knowing what video GPU is being used.

it says that /tmp/ don't have enough memory and that
they recommend that I delete files so they can download.
I solved it by restartof Xorg Sometimes things are easy?

Hello Eyes-Only, Yes, it seems that Pentium 3's (and later of course) are OK with Chrome 20, but from what James C has found the Athlon XP is not.

Google-Chrome working here... |
|
Just wanted to say Larry that your .pet of google-chrome v-20 is working perfectly fine here on 3HD regardless the window manager/desktop environment and on this very old Dell "celery" 2.4 processor that's approximately 8 to 10 years old. ( I think? Was the marvel of its day but held together with bailing wire and duct tape now. LOL! )
Nothing about "won't run under root". Had it had said that I'd have taken the browser out back and shot it with my shotgun of course. Damned if I'll have a computer or piece of software tell ME what to do with MY computer! Day that arrives ol' jimmi boy will gladly chuck his computer out the window here... which has a nice drop-off to the river below!
Thanks for your continued work upon Puppy Larry for ol' whinners like me. Your hard work is very greatly appreciated and you never get told nearly enough!
Cheers/Amicalement,
Eyes-Only

Looks like it. I guess their message (won't run as root) could have been a bit more accurate, eh?
